Orca Bay Seafoods, one of the nation’s leading producers of plate-ready portion-controlled seafood items, will mark 2005 and its 20th anniversary with the launch of a breast cancer awareness effort tied into select retail stores across the country.
The “Sea A Cure” promotion will center on the company’s 12-ounce line of frozen steaks and fillets. In the first quarter of 2005, a portion of the sales from these items will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation - a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of breast cancer through education as well as providing mammograms for those in need.
“Our firm has long shown a commitment to a variety of giving campaigns,” said Mark Tupper, National Sales Manager for Orca Bay Seafoods. “With all the positive energy surrounding our twentieth year we felt it was the perfect opportunity to embrace a cause that has touched the lives of nearly everyone – our Orca Bay family included.”
Vice President Trish Haaker, one of Orca Bay’s founders and a breast cancer survivor, agrees.
“The Foundation is so important because it addresses low income and uninsured women,” she said. “ ‘Sea A Cure’ is our chance to spotlight that important group.”
Throughout the promotion, Orca Bay’s packaging will feature a prominent sticker touting the support effort. In addition, pins adorned with the ”Sea A Cure” logo will be distributed to store personnel.
Tupper sees an additional connection to this cause, and to consumer lifestyles in general.
“Certainly, we’re believers in the nutritional gifts of seafood,” he said. “The upside of a healthy diet really can’t be overstated.”
Servicing a diverse food service, club store and retail clientele, Orca Bay supports a staff of 150, operating out of a 15.000 square foot processing center. Product is sourced from a global network of suppliers and transported to our HAACP certified facility where it is graded, portioned and subjected to levels of quality control that exceed the industry standards. In addition to a premium line of frozen steaks, fillets, portions and shellfish, Orca Bay also distributes a growing number of innovative “value added” seafood selections, including soups, stews, breaded items and sushi. With an emphasis on consistency, customer service and impeccable distribution, Orca Bay will deliver over 25 million pounds of seafood to our customers this year.
